Q & Adie

IT’S Q & A TIME, WITCHES!

First of all, thank you all so much for your questions! I didn’t think I would get nearly so many questions and I’m really floored that you guys are so interested in my boring life lol! Thank you so much!

After I cut out the parts where I got distracted and stared blankly into space, the video ended up still being forty minutes long. So, I broke it into two videos you can watch at your leisure. Keep in mind, I filmed this on my laptop camera and edited it on the free Microsoft video editing software, so it’s not exactly super high quality… or the most flattering angle.

Fun Fact: I hate my voice, so the fact that I’m sharing this with you all is proof of my undying love for you.

Enjoy! Continue reading “Q & Adie”

Sunday Spirit: Samhain

We’re coming into the home stretch of Blogtober and I’m pretty proud of how I’ve done, thus far. Scrapping the fashion posts aside, I stuck to my “theme” each day, was only late posting one or two posts, and even managed to get some things queued in advance (instead of rushing around at 3:00am to write something up… or writing it the day of). A pretty big step up from last year. Maybe next year I’ll get everything written and queued in September so I can just take October off!

The end of Blogtober means the end of October which means Halloween! For those of us witchy folks, it also means Samhain, the end of the witch’s year.

Samhain (pronounced: sow-in) historically marked the end of the final harvest of the year. In some Pagan practices (particularly Wicca), it marks the death of the old God and Goddess in her Crone form mourns him for six(ish) weeks, before going into Yule (the Wiccan/Pagan new year).

Samhain is a time to honor the dead. It’s said that the veil between this world and the next is thinner during this time, if that’s your thing.

In honor of the upcoming Sabbat (it creeped up so quickly!), I wanted to share some things you can do to celebrate. Continue reading “Sunday Spirit: Samhain”

Sunday Spirit: Praying as a Witch

I’ve said for years that I don’t see much difference between spell work and prayer, especially when compared to Catholic prayer rituals. Candles are lit, incense is burned, words are said. Ultimately, both have the same goal: To put a request out to Providence in hopes it is fulfilled.

That being said, the first time I actually prayed–not worked a spell, but just prayed–it felt very strange. Continue reading “Sunday Spirit: Praying as a Witch”

Sunday Spirit – Crystal Collection

If you’re super new around here, it might behoove you to know I’m a witch. …I don’t know why I decided to go with “behoove” there, but here we are.

Crystals are a huge part of my witchcraft. I would even say they’re the main part of my witchcraft. Crystals are a great way to harness and channel energy in a way you can easily carry with you. They’re my favorite.

And I have a lot of them.

Like… A LOT.

So, to close out this first week of Blogtober, I want to share a small part of my collection with you. I have larger pieces which are more for display than practice and some medium-to-large pieces for long-term energy work, but the overwhelming majority of my collection are small tumbled stones easy to carry with me (either in a bag, bottle, or just alone). So, I also want to show you all how I store and keep them organized. Continue reading “Sunday Spirit – Crystal Collection”

If you’re not making magic, can you really call yourself a witch?

This post contains affiliate links. You can read my full disclosure on that here.

I mean, short answer: Yes, as long as you identify as a witch. Obviously. I just needed a catchy title.

I’ve hit a bit of a spiritual slump, lately. This is something that commonly happens with me (depression, anxiety, and the crippling inability to function that comes with them). When I feel overwhelmed, anything that is not absolutely essential to my survival gets left by the way side.

This is trying for me, because my spirituality is a very important part of my life. Continue reading “If you’re not making magic, can you really call yourself a witch?”

What to Do When Your Sacred Space… Isn’t, Anymore.

I’ve written in the past about my favorite spot in Southern California (quite possibly my favorite place in the world that I’ve been to so far)—the area I consider to be my sacred space, the place I go when I need to unwind and reconnect to my soul and Providence. The Meditation Garden at the Self-Realization Fellowship in Encinitas, CA is a calm, quiet place, perfect for meditating (obviously), relaxation, and quiet reflection…

Until the weekend or summer hits. Continue reading “What to Do When Your Sacred Space… Isn’t, Anymore.”

My Year of Endings

When I went to see my spiritual counselor at the beginning of this year, she told me that on my birthday I will be entering a year of endings.* This is a good time to get rid of things, habits, and relationships which no longer benefit me. It’s not really a great time to start anything new.

The last few months, I’ve really been on a spiritual journey, but I still feel like I’m holding myself back. That needs to end.

So, as I’m preparing to enter my Year of Endings, here are some things I would like to let go of in my thirtieth year on this planet:

The need to fit a label. I am a witch. Since I started looking for religion, I have been a witch. Like many things, I am very open and accepting of however people want to apply that label to themselves… until I look in the mirror. When it comes to myself and my own beliefs, I still hold onto old and narrow definitions of what does and does not make me a witch. Despite the years I’ve spent on this path, I still worry about not being “witchy enough.” It is time for these limiting and outdated definitions to go.

The need to qualify. I am very scientifically minded. I want things, including my system of beliefs, to make logical sense. But, I’m learning that belief systems don’t always make sense and I can’t force them to be logical. Not everything can (or may even be meant to) be understood.

The fear of being wrong. This is tied to my need to qualify and understand everything. I think a part of me is afraid to look beyond the beliefs which make sense to and comfort me, because I don’t want to find contradictory information which will cause me to question the accuracy of my beliefs. But, this is how we grow. And beliefs are beliefs; part of the reason they are there is to bring us comfort. Just because I find contradictory information doesn’t necessarily mean I have to stop believing what I do or stop worshiping the ways I do.

Letting go of mental blocks is never easy, but I’m going to try my hardest. I know that doing so will open me up to new experiences and knowledge that otherwise I wouldn’t receive.

I love you all.

*These years (there are three; endings, creativity, and the third I always forget) are tied to one’s birth date and are varied for everyone. Just because I am entering a year of endings doesn’t necessarily mean anyone else is.
