Witchy Wednesday: Why Colorado Springs will Always be the Witchiest City (to me, at least)

I’m sure I’m not the only one that gets random associations in my head, right? Two things that are objectively unrelated, but are forever linked in my brain meat.

Can I talk about how Colorado Springs will always be the witchiest city in the world, to me?

Because, objectively speaking, Colorado Springs is not a witchy city. At all. It’s actually a remarkably conservative city. I’ve referred to Colorado Springs as “the biggest small town I’ve ever seen” because the attitudes of the people there give off that vibe.

And I will always associate it with witchcraft. Continue reading “Witchy Wednesday: Why Colorado Springs will Always be the Witchiest City (to me, at least)”

TMI Tuesday: Let's Talk About Sex(uality), Baby!

Let’s talk about… well… just me, actually.

I think most people at this point realize that sexuality can be extremely fluid, at least for some people. Some of us may go through many changes which affect our identities. I certainly have. I’ve run the gamut and come back to the start, I suppose. So, let me take you on a journey.

Like most kids who grew up kind of sheltered, I assumed I was straight. I knew I liked boys, so I couldn’t be gay, because gay girls only liked girls, not boys. And that was what I knew: Gay™ or Straight™. Continue reading “TMI Tuesday: Let's Talk About Sex(uality), Baby!”

Blogtober 2017, Monday Musings, Politics

Monday Musings: I'm so Damn Tired.

I’m in a great deal of physical pain, at the moment, thanks to a pinched nerve in my shoulder and a tight muscle in my back that makes my entire right arm feel like it’s in a vice grip. I should start doing yoga.

I’m also in an extreme amount of emotional distress waking up and heard about Las Vegas. A friend of mine lost a friend. Other friends are still waiting to hear back about loved ones. My brother and his wife lived in Vegas for many years and her mother still lives there. I’ve never started crying so quickly after waking up. Continue reading “Monday Musings: I'm so Damn Tired.”

Blogging Stuff, Blogtober 2017

Blog-tober… or something?

So, I’ve decided to try to do this Blog-tober… post every day in October*… thing. Partially because I think it will be fun and partially because next month is National Novel Writing Month and it will be a miracle if I find the time to post on my blog.

I forget how I heard about Blog-tober and I’m sure there’s probably some sort of prompt list for things like this, but I’m not going that route. I’m just going to (kind of) post whatever I want each day as a way for you all to get to know me as a person. I say “kind of” post what I want, because I like themes and categories (and alliteration) and stuff like that, so I’m going to stick to certain types of posts each day:

  • Monday Musings: Just me talking about life or whatever.
  • TMI Tuesday: The (probably) NSFW and deeply personal stuff.
  • Witchy Wednesday: I’m a witch and I don’t talk about that nearly as often as you might expect considering my blog is called Cupcake Witchery.
  • Thankful Thursday: If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you probably remember that this used to be a regular thing, where I would post about what I was thankful for that week.
  • Friday Faves: Just stuff I like, shameless promotion of friends and material goods. I have no affiliate links or anything like that; I really just want to spread the love of good shit so it can keep going.
  • Sartorial Saturday: Outfit(s) of the day/week. Or at least something fashion related.
  • Sunday Sweets: I will start baking again if it effing kills me. Alternately, Sunday Shorts: Some small piece of flash fiction, because I’m a writer and baking every week will make me incredibly unhealthy.

Admittedly, I probably won’t stick to this schedule after October, because I don’t really have the time or energy in my life right now to blog every single day. But, I might keep a few of them going (like bringing back Thankful Thursdays, because that really made me feel better about things and I don’t know why I stopped). And, of course, like I mentioned, November is NaNoWriMo and I really, really, really want to get some work done on my book, which means less time for other things.

So, yea. That starts tomorrow. Whoo!

I love you all.

Personal Collage Project (aka nightmare personal exposé presentation)

On Tuesday, I presented my “Personal Collage Project” for my communications class. It went as well as could be expected. I got the full fifty points, so I guess I nailed it. My voice shook a lot from nerves, but I think everyone thought I was just emotional because of some of the subject matter. Whatever, I’ll take it.

I was considering posting my speech here for everyone to read, but, ah, funny thing…

I can’t actually remember what I said. Continue reading “Personal Collage Project (aka nightmare personal exposé presentation)”

Feminism

I started shaving again after a year and you should still do whatever you want with your body.

shaving

I’ve mentioned in the past that I have a love/hate relationship with shaving. I don’t like performing in-shower acrobatics and pulling muscles, but I also don’t like getting my hair snagged in my clothes or that sweaty, itchy feeling during the summer.
