Well, that’s a roundabout way to say “read more”

I’ve been trying really hard to get back in touch with my creative side. I really miss art and crafts and having an imagination that reaches beyond imagining myself either vastly wealthy or living in a dumpster. They say to fake it until you make it, so I’m trying to fake myself into believing I’m still an artistic person.

I’m just a bit starved for ideas, at the moment. And motivation, if I’m honest. Time is a precious commodity and I can’t spare too much on frivolous things likeĀ enjoyment.

Writer’s block is a nightmare. Writing is the only creative thing I really have time for, because I can do it literally anywhere I have access to paper and a writing implement. Which is everywhere, because I carry a notebook and pen with me. But nothing comes.

Don’t you just hate that?

I don’t even know what to blog about. I seriously considered doing another diet post, because I don’t know what else to say (that isn’t just… horribly depressing). That’s how deep this writer’s block is going.

On the bright side, with all that time spent not creating things myself, I’ve been reading things other people have created! So, here are a couple books you should pick up, if you like good stories. Continue reading “Well, that’s a roundabout way to say “read more””

Watch-This Wednesday: Creepshows

It’s Halloween! And while this marks the end of Blogtober, it also marks a time to celebrate by getting our terror on! Whoo!

I’m sure some of you have epic plans for the evening; going out, spending time with actual living(-dead) people. But, if you’re like me, you’ll probably spend a good chunk of the night at home.

Here are some creepy suggestions to make the most of this spookiest day of the year. Continue reading “Watch-This Wednesday: Creepshows”

Music Monday: The Spooky Spirit

T-Minus 3 days until Halloween! This is not a drill, people!

In honor of the impending holiday, I wanted to share some of the music that gets me in the Halloween spirit. Funny enough, this post could alternatively be titled “Music Monday: Classic Rock” because no one evokes an aura of witchery like classic rockers, apparently.

Seriously, every song on this list is older than I am.

Let’s get to it, shall we? Continue reading “Music Monday: The Spooky Spirit”

Watch-This Wednesday: Movies

I’ve done TV, YouTube, cartoons. But what about some full-length feature film stuff? What do I recommend to pop in the Blu-Ray player on Friday night and watch with a big bowl of popcorn and a warm blanket?

Here are my favorite movies I watch over and over (and you should, too). Continue reading “Watch-This Wednesday: Movies”

Watch-This Wednesday: Live-Action TV

I will admit, I don’t watch a lot of “live-action” (ie: not animated) TV, anymore. Typically, if I’m watching TV, it’s just so I have background noise while I clean or something. But, there are a few shows that catch my full attention when they come on and I’ll even go out of my way to watch (or at least DVR).

Here’s what I’m watching (and you should be, too)! Continue reading “Watch-This Wednesday: Live-Action TV”

Watch-This Wednesday: YouTube

Sorry this is a little late. Things happen. But, it’s here! Yay!

This week, I want to share some of my favorite YouTube channels. Expect gaming. That’s pretty much all I watch on YouTube anymore, so if you’re not a gamer, this post probably isn’t for you. Continue reading “Watch-This Wednesday: YouTube”

Music Monday: Imagine Dragons

Lately, I’ve been on a huge Imagine Dragons kick. This band has rapidly become one of my all-time favorites. I bought their first three albums (I haven’t gotten the chance to buy their newest, yet) and 90% of the songs just blow me away. Even the other 10% are still damn good.

Their lead singer/songwriter, Dan Reynolds, struggles with two physical illnesses as well as depression. A lot of the bands songs seem to relate to these struggles, particularly my favorite song “Monster” which really speaks to me in regards to how I feel about my own mental illnesses.

On top of that, the musicianship is incredible and Dan’s voice is my newest obsession. His voice combined with the band’s lyrics evoke a deep soul that is absolutely captivating.

So, to kick off Blogtober, I want to share some incredible songs from one of my favorite bands.
