Meet the Blogger!

So, I was planning on taking September off, and scheduled a post explaining what is going on with me and why I need A Break. But, after a bit of consideration, I’ve decided to postpone my vacation from the internet until a little later in the year; either October to properly savor the Halloween season (which is basically my Christmas), or November to focus on NaNoWriMo. Let’s be real, probably November, because I need every spare ounce of focus to complete that beast.

Unfortunately, that kind of left me without a post for today. So, I’m taking a cue from Allen over on The Midnight Goose and filling out a “Meet the Blogger” type survey. But not the same survey because I feel like that would be cheating. I went and searched out my own.

Name: That depends on who you are and how you know me. I go by Adie here on the blog, A.M. Mickle for more “professional” writing and my photography, and people who know me in the Real World™ call me Aidan. Literally none of those are my legal name.

Age: 30

Gender: Agender

A selfie Eh… I’m still not totally comfortable posting my actual face on the blog (maybe next time), so here’s a picture of my cats, instead.

Mufa on the left, Pufa on the right.

Food: This is such a loaded question! Who can pick just one favorite food? My first inclination is to say chocolate, because chocolate is incredible. But, to me, a favorite food is something you could eat daily without getting sick of it, and I would eventually get sick of eating chocolate every day (twelve-year-old me is just aghast right now). So, with that qualification, I think I’d have to instead go with potatoes. I could eat potatoes literally every day. Especially baked and slathered in butter and sour cream, with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese and bacon.

Drink: Either water or chocolate milk. I don’t drink caffeine, so sodas and coffees are out (and also gross anyway). I’m not a huge fruit person, so I don’t really drink juice other than orange juice. Tea is just a fancy word for plant water.

Book: “Lamb” by Christopher Moore. It has been my favorite since the day I read it (and I did read it in about a day). It’s hilarious and has held the top spot in my heart ever since.

Song: “Witchy Woman” by The Eagles is basically my theme song, so I guess I’ll go with that. But, really, my favorite song/movie/band/artist (basically all the upcoming questions) tend to shift with my mood.

Movie: Right now, I’m watching “X-Men: Apocalypse” on repeat.

Band: I’m on a huge Imagine Dragons kick, at the moment.

Solo Artist: In racking my brain over this question, I realized I don’t really listen to a lot of solo artists. At least, none with enough frequency to say I have a “favorite,” even in the moment. I do have a soft spot for Kesha, and I mean everyone loves Beyoncé, so…

Place: I’ve mentioned I’m a frequent visitor to the Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens in Encinitias, CA.

Subject: Like, in school? English, still. Words are, like, my thing.

Sport: Is channel surfing a sport? I’m pretty good at that.

Male actor: Domhnall Gleeson😍😍

Female actor: Tessa Thompson is a blessed angel from the heavens above and I will fight anyone who wants to run their mouth.

Schooling: I am currently in college, studying dietetics and wondering if I’ve made a horrible, horrible decision. Fun fact, I’m only, like, five classes away from being able to transfer to university for a BA in English.

Significant Other: I am, as the kids say, single AF.

Political Ideology: Rebellion.

Religion: I still identify as an agnostic witch. I’m currently exploring other paths (most prominently at the moment is Christianity which, admittedly, isn’t going quite so well, lately), but I will always, always cast my line in with witchcraft.

Tattoos: None, yet. I have a few ideas for when I have money, again.

Piercings: I have both ears pierced twice, with my lowest lobe holes (damn, that sounds dirty) shrinking from when I stretched them to a 2g about eight years ago; I currently keep a 14g CBR in the lowest hole and wear regular earrings in the higher. I also have my left nostril pierced with a clear glass stud.

I used to have my lip pierced, twice (once to the right and once dead-center, at different times) as well as other, less family-friendly piercings I won’t specify. I have intentions of renewing some of my retired piercings, eventually.

Languages: I only speak English fluently. I know how to ask where the bathroom is in Spanish, can greet people in Italian and French, and can call you an idiot in Japanese. Basically, I learn what I need to know.

Reason behind your blog’s name: I changed my blog’s name back in May from The Cupcake Witch to From Adie, with Love, because my old name didn’t quite fit the content I was posting. From Adie, with Love is a bit less focused on particular topics (like cupcakes and witchcraft, although I do still post about both). Because it uses my actual name (or at least one of the names I go by), it presents more of a personal blog feel, as opposed to a “witch blog” or “cupcake blog” feel, so hopefully my audience has a better idea of the content they’re getting into. Admittedly, it seems a little more… cute than I consider my blog to be, but whatcha gonna do? Everything is a work in progress.

Why you blog: I’ve always blogged. I think I’ve forgotten how to exist without blogging. I want to share my experiences with people. I’ve been around the internet long enough to know that you never know who might read your words and feel better or less alone. If I make even one person feel like they aren’t the only person struggling with an issue, then the last fifteen years of my life haven’t been for nothing. I also blog because it’s a great way to meet other, more like-minded people. Some of my best friends are people I’ve met through blogging over the years.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this little peak into who I am as a person. It’s been a while since I’ve filled out a survey like this. It was fun! If you have any other pressing questions, ask them in the comments and I’ll answer (unless you’re being, like, gross or rude or something).

I love you all.

Let’s keep in touch! Follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest!

Are you awesome? Do you like awesome things? Then stop by my shop to pick up a t-shirt or mug and let the world know about your unapologetically authentic awesomeness!

Like my content? Consider buying me a coffee. Less time worrying about paying my bills means more time creating content.

  1. It’s always nice meeting the blogger behind the blog. In my case I’m the wife behind the blogger of a blog. In short I’m Allen’s wife/burden. Halloween is our Christmas as well as our anniversary. We married last year on Halloween and the proceeded into a sugar coma lol.

  2. We must be a Halloweenie group. Or just weenies. Anyway, The Husband Dude and I love Halloween too, even more than any other holiday. I enjoyed reading this and getting to know you a little better!

  3. Adie,
According to our weatherman, tomorrow begins meteorologists’ official start of fall. I love fall! And I agree, Halloween has it all — dressing up, candy, scaring people who need to be scared — okay, I try not to do that too often — still…there is definitely something magical about this time of the year. You can have a great time before you start having to get stressed out about Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’ve already started Christmas shopping so I won’t be caught by surprise like I was last Christmas, trying to buy gifts last minute. That is way too expensive to do that. My favorite “witch” song, btw, is Rhiannon followed by Sisters of the Moon by Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, but I like the Eagles, too! It was great to learn more about you Adie! Glad you’re continuing to blog throughout this month. I always enjoy reading your posts.

    1. I went through a Stevie Nicks phase in high school after watching the movie Gypsy 83. Now I can hardly remember any of her songs.😕 But YAY FALL! Maybe it will drop below 80 soon (I doubt it, but I can hope). I don’t do Christmas shopping; I do Christmas baking. It’s less expensive.
