There actually was more news, which I forgot about in my blind panic over my unemployment situation. I took a nap and now I’m thinking clearer, so I remembered.
Against probably my better judgement (because I’m in school and, as I’ve mentioned a thousand times, my English class is killing me), I’ve decided that this is the year I’m going to actively participate in NaNoWriMo, again. The first time I heard about it (back in, like, 2006 or 2007 or something), I actively participated two years in a row (signed up on their website and everything) and failed miserably both times. The next few years I wasn’t “officially” participating, but I did try to write a little more (mostly because other friends were participating and posting their word counts and that reminded me hey maybe I should write a thing). Last year I didn’t bother doing anything at all.
I’m not sure why I suddenly decided that this year is the year to try again. I’m swamped with school and now doubling-down my efforts to find permanent employment. (Aside: why is seasonal employment so demanding? Whenever I’ve interviewed for seasonal stuff, they always say, “Oh, well, you’re only going to get about 10-15 hours a week, but we need you available on a constant basis, because your schedule will switch drastically each week to fill in the gaps between our regular employees [who we actually care about, unlike you], so you can’t have any other jobs, school, or responsibilities. You must devote your entire life to $100-150 a week, before taxes.” Fuck that.) It’s not great timing to devote extra hours to extra words.
But, I’m doing it. Might as well, right? The worst thing that happens is I don’t finish my book, which I’ve lived through before.
I love you all.
